The Red Mountain Study Group will hold an Open House on Sunday, October 22, 2017, from 1:30 PM to until 3:00 PM. The address is 1014 24th Street South, Birmingham, AL, 35205-2308. It is the large green house next to Impact Counseling and near the Garages Cafe. RSVP is requested but not required at 205-320-0013. Come join us to see our historic house, have refreshments and learn about the ideas of G. I. Gurdjieff, whose fundamental aim was to help people awaken to the meaning of human existence through efforts made within ordinary life.

We have been asked to begin a new meditation group that will take place on Thursday nights. We will 'sit' for 30 minutes and then discuss the Gurdjieff ideas for 30 minutes. You are encouraged to wear clothing that is loose and comfortable. We offer sitting on a cushion, a bench or a chair. It is important to be comfortable and relaxed so you may wish to come early and experiment with the way your body wishes to 'sit'.

The Gurdjieff Work is not a belief system and we ask that you verify everything for yourself. We study the ideas so you will further understand why you are 'sitting'. The sittings are led by senior membersof the Gurdjieff Group.

There is limited space so we need to know if you wish to attend.   Please call 205-320-0013 for reservations.

The Red Mountain Study Groups’ home is a large green house on the South side, next door to Impact Counseling and down from the Garage Café.

Friday, June 28, 2013 6:00 p.m.

An evening presentation which will be the first in a series to introduce the ideas of G.I.Gurdjieff. The members of the Red Mountain Study Group will share how the study of this teaching supports the search for meaning in the life of contemporary man.

Is it possible to experience inner silence in the push and pull of contemporary life? Is there a way to find a new relationship to more of myself? Is it possible to stop and pause, beginning our day differently?

The evening will include presentations, readings, a movement exercise related to the Gurdjieff Sacred Dances and  Gurdjieff/De Hartmann music.

Conversation and refreshments at the home of the Gurdjieff Work in Birmingham.

There is no charge for the event.
