INHERITANCE  by Charles A. Hopson

“ As I approach my 70th year, I see a desperate need for consciousness on our planet, and I am convinced that this kind of change in humanity is not going to come from some mass movement of religious fervor or change in political ideology. It will come from the small creative communities that can support conditions where a sacred exchange with the Great Unknowable can occur.”   Charles Hopson

This book is a tribute to the parents of Charles Hopson. It is about their living and dying and their influence on his spiritual life. Through poetry and prose Hopson indicates that the inheritance he received from them was drawn from the spiritual world as well as the secular world. Within these pages you will find glimpses of his parents’ pilgrimages and glimpses of his own search as well.  His life was shaped by his fathers’s theological education, his mother’s intuitive knowledge and more than 30 years of study and practice in the Gurdjieff Work.

What defines our inheritance? How can it be claimed? Can this inheritance be used for the highest good of humanity and to serve the Endless Creator? The author hopes the modest writings in this book will open wider that great possibility.

img 3575

This Edwin Wolfe Commemorative Edition is reprinted by kind permission of The Gurdjieff Foundation.

Edwin Wolfe was an artist, radio writer and producer, Broadway actor, and a student of G.I. Gurdjieff. He was a member of the work group founded in New York by A. R. Orage at the direction of Mr. Gurdjieff. Mr. Wolfe also lived at the Prieuré for a time as one of Gurdjieff’s students. During Mr. Gurdjieff’s visits to New York in the 1930s and 1940s, Mr. Wolfe served as his Minister of Finance and handled all the necessary financial arrangements. These episodes are simple and direct recollections of life experiences with a man whom many regard as the foremost spiritual teacher of the twentieth century.
